Recent Projects

ASIC hardware design for cellular applications in VHDL. Also, much work in ASIC verification of modules for state-of-the-art baseband cellular processing.
Baseband circuit board design for cellular applications, including digital and analog circuit design, CAD management, board debug, testing, and phone verification for standards compliance.
ASIC hardware design used in the timeswitch card of a DMS-100 telephone switch in Verilog. Combined four older designs into one design with hardware mode control and added a fifth mode to handle required enhancements for ISDN, while removing old asynchronous design habits (approximately 25 different clocks) and rigorously maintaining a synchronous, one clock approach, in the new design.
Development of a real-time embedded multiprocessor communication subsystem, hardware driver development, and architectural analysis/trouble shooting of a remote line concentrating module with extended distance capability (RLCM-EDC) for a DMS-100 telephone switching system.
Technical lead to evaluate, analyze, and redesign a real-time distributed industrial I/O control system which uses custom ASIC devices at distributed I/O points within the network. Requirements for the redesign included throughput doubling and product enhancement. Also responsible as lead engineer on handheld ASIC programming device, which included project management, personnel management, and detailed design of all circuitry including DC-DC converters (one DAC controlled), all digital/microprocessor circuitry, analog circuitry, and A/D interface circuitry.
Analysis, design, and development of a custom embedded network for use in high power ( 30 kVa - 250 kVa ) uninterruptable power supplies. The custom network met many real-time and system resource constraints to allow multi-processor communication within the high noise environment of the units.
Systems, Electrical, Firmware, and Human Engineering of Real-Time Embedded multi-microcontroller design, including interprocessor Fiber Optic SDLC network design. The system is used in the petroleum industry.
